José J. Johnson – CEO, Chief Instructor

José is the CEO of Integrated Wellness Consultants, Inc., and chief instructor of the Chinese Martial Arts and Wellness Center.  Besides being a world-class, accomplished athlete, José truly shines as a teacher and motivator. His mission in life is to help people realize their true potential and guide his students on the best path toward self discovery and the achievement of their personal goals.

José retired from competition in 1995 as one of the top competitive wushu athletes in the U.S., having won several national and international championships.  José was a member of the 1993 USA Taiji Team and competed at the First World Taiji Invitational Competition in Fuzhou, China.  He was also the 1995 USA All-Taijiquan Grand Champion and the 1995 USAWKF Internal All-Around National Champion.  In 1995, José was the USAWKF top ranked athlete in the Wu Taiji, Sun Taiji, Chen Taiji, Taiji Sword and International Compulsory Taiji divisions, setting the record for most number one rankings by an athlete.

As a coach, José has helped four athletes win national championships, including the 1999 and 2000 USA All-Taijiquan Grand Champion awards, the 2000 USAWKF Women’s Internal All-Around National Champion and the 2002 US Wushu Union Men’s Internal All-Around National Champion awards. 

José has studied wushu, taiji and qigong with many of the most respected masters in the U.S. and China and is a top student of his mentor, Master Nick Gracenin.  José has received Master level ranking from the International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association  and 5th Degree Black Belt from the Peng Fei Wushu Association.  He is also a certified instructor of Medical Qigong through the Qigong Empowerment Association.  José serves on the executive committee of the U.S. Wushu Union.  He does outreach programs at senior centers across Central Pennsylvania and established the taiji program for the Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging.  José is in demand as a seminar presenter, national level judge and tournament administrator and continues to study with internationally recognized masters in a variety of Chinese martial arts.
